HANDYTRADES

In beta across Inner West, the Sutherland Shire and Ryde. See the suburbs

Work from local builders. No lead fees.

Builders send you jobs with the price on the table. Accept, counter or pass, then run the job from your phone: book the crew, tick off steps, send photos and get signed off.

Free while Handy is in beta. Not open near you yet? You'll be able to join the waitlist.

A job offer, as a trade sees it in the inbox

What changes

Paying for leads that were sent to four other trades.

No lead fees. A job offer goes to you, and only you.

Quoting over the phone, then chasing the builder for a yes.

The price sits on the job. Accept, counter or pass, and it's settled in writing.

The builder ringing to ask if you've finished yet.

Tick off steps and add a photo. They see it without calling.

Invoices in one place, jobs in another, and forgetting who hasn't paid.

Finished jobs show as ready to invoice, waiting or overdue.

What you get

Everything below is built and working in the beta today.

Job offers
Every offer is one conversation with the terms pinned on top: price, how it's charged and the builder's note.
Jobs board
Open jobs from builders near you, sorted by distance. Bid with a price when one suits.
Crew diary and map
Book people by the day, drag jobs between them, and see each person's run on a map.
Finances
What's ready to invoice, what's waiting and what's overdue. Crew expenses to pay back, too.
Rate cards
Save how you charge (per m², per hour, per fixture) and answer offers in seconds.
Your own jobs
Run jobs for clients who aren't on Handy in the same place as the builder work.
Ratings and a blue tick
Ratings from paid jobs and a verified licence both move you up the directory. Rate builders back, too.

Getting started

  1. 1

    Check your area

Put in a suburb you work in. If Handy is open there, you're straight in.

  2. 2

    Create your account

Name, email and a password. It takes a minute.

  3. 3

    List your business

Trade, licence, ABN, suburbs and a few photos. A person checks it, usually within a day.

Questions people ask

What does it cost?
Nothing to find work — no lead fees, ever. Founding trades keep that for good.
Do I need a licence and an ABN?
You need an ABN. If your trade needs a licence in NSW, you need that too. We check every listing by hand before it goes live. You don't need your licence verified to use Handy, but verified trades get a blue tick and show higher in search.
How do ratings work?
After a job is signed off and paid, the builder rates your time and quality, and you rate them back. Good ratings move you up the directory. Neither of you sees the other's rating until you've both rated, or two weeks pass.
I work for another business. Can I join?
Handy is for people who run their own trade business. If your boss is on Handy, they can add you to their crew so you see your jobs.
What if I work outside the open suburbs as well?
That's fine. Sign up with a suburb you work in that's open, and list every suburb you serve on your profile.
Is there more than just finding jobs?
Yes. Listing your business and bidding on jobs is free, always. If you want the tools that run the whole job for you — scheduling, employees, finances, receipts — that's a paid plan with founder pricing locked for life. See plans and pricing.
